Follow these steps:
Step 1: Download Amazon Fire TV App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your smartphone.
Step 2: When working with Wi-Fi make sure your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Amazon Fire TV.
Step 3: After downloading, open the app. It will ask you to sign into your Amazon account.
Step 4: When you log in using your Amazon account, you will now see a list of nearby Fire TV devices that you can control using your smartphone.
Step 5: Press the device you want to control. As soon as you do that, the TV will show a four-digit code. Enter the same code in the app to connect to the device.
Step 6: Once connected, you can use your smartphone as a Fire TV remote. There is a touch-pad-like area that you can swipe up, down, left, and right. Like the external remote, there is playback, pause button, and menu button along with the Play / Pause and Fast Forward buttons.
